The Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut extends our deepest condolences to the members of Worcester Fire Fighters, Local 1009 on the Line of Duty Death of Fire Fighter Christopher Roy of Ladder Co. 4, Brother Roy made the ultimate sacrifice doing his job.

Commons St. Commercial Structure Fire 12/09/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
Just after 8 p.m. on Saturday December 8th, Local members were dispatched to a fire alarm activation at 10005 Commons Street in Lone Tree. Upon arrival members found water flowing from the fire sprinkler system and one unit in the strip mall full of smoke.

C470 Heavy Equipment Fire 12/07/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
At 2:39 a.m. on Friday December 7th, Local members responded to a heavy equipment fire on C-470 west of Lucent Blvd. First arriving Engine 16 found a concrete texture curing machine with flames visible and heavy smoke drifting over the westbound lanes. For safety, traffic was briefly shut down while members extinguished the fire.

NLFD IS AWARDED THE LT. JOSEPH DIBERNARDO GRANT 12/02/18 - New London Fire Fighters
The NLFD was awarded the Joseph DiBernardo grant. This grant will provide our members with bailout kits and training for them. The Joseph DiBernardo foundation was started after Joseph succumbed to his injuries when he jumped out of a 5 story window during the Black Sunday Fire on November 22, 2011.

Latigo Way Structure Fire 11/30/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
At 7:30 p.m. on Thursday November 29, 2018, Local members responded to a house fire on Latigo Lane in Parker. Smoke was visible from the garage when crews arrived, and the homeowner confirmed that all family members were safe and accounted for. Members quickly extinguished a small fire in the garage and conducted searches inside the home for extension, none was found.

Ready to roll! The newly completed Firehouse 32 located at Orchard Road and Quebec Street was placed in service this morning. There was a brief flag ceremony, a performance by the South Metro Fire Pipes and Drums and a traditional "push in" of the apparatus.

Toys for Tots 11/26/18 - Plymouth Fire Local 1768
The Plymouth Fire Department and Plymouth Firefighters Local 1768 announced their twelfth annual Toys for Tots drive.
Toys can be dropped off until Dec. 21 to Station 1 Headquarters, 114 Sandwich St. , and Station 6 Cedarville, 2209 State Road . All toys must be unwrapped to ensure proper distribution for each child's gender and age.
Lake Firefighters to Debut New Rescue Me Calendar 11/26/18 - IAFF Local 3990
The Professional Firefighters of Lake County are debuting our all new Rescue Me wall calendar for 2019. The calendar features pictures of our firefighters with animals from the Lake County Animal Shelter and our firetrucks. The calendar is only $10 and all proceeds from the calendar will be donated to the Lake County Animal Shelter to help pets find a furever home.
